Sheet material planning

Arrange rectangular parts on sheet material

Enter one stock-sheet size and the rectangular parts you need. The planner accounts for kerf, rotation and grain direction, then produces an efficient layout without claiming a mathematically optimal result.

Start with one stock size and rectangular parts

Enter the sheet and part details

The planner fits the parts into an efficient guillotine layout, keeps grain-locked parts in their entered direction and separates rectangular offcuts from the material removed between cuts.

1. Choose units
2. Enter the stock sheet

Kerf is the width removed by the saw cut. A grain lock keeps the entered width and height direction for that part.

3. Add the parts

What this layout does not model

The planner arranges rectangles on sheets of one size. It does not create a cutting sequence or account for defects, edge trimming, clamps or tool travel, so check those details before cutting.

Calculate to draw the sheet layout

Enter one stock size and at least one rectangular part. The result will show every placed part, the remaining rectangular offcuts and the area used by the entered kerf.

  • Use grain lock when a part must keep its entered direction.
  • Duplicate a row when several parts share the same size.
  • Print or copy the result after the layout is calculated.
